General Motors has officially confirmed that the new Chevrolet Spark EUV will be launched for sale this year in Argentina. This all-electric SUV belongs to the B-segment (small) and will be imported from China.
The Spark EUV is one of two electric models that GM plans to introduce to the Argentine market this year. The other confirmed model is the Blazer EV.
“The Spark EUV will arrive in the region in 2025 to bring technology and innovation to consumers seeking fun and sustainable alternatives, with Chevrolet’s distinctive brand identity,” announced Santiago Chamorro, President of GM South America.
“The model will be offered in a top-of-the-line configuration and will feature a unique combination to meet the new market preferences. More details will be shared in due time. The Spark EUV is the second electric vehicle Chevrolet has announced for Argentina and one of five new models the brand will launch this year,” added GM Argentina.
If the Chinese factory can maintain a price below $16,000 FOB (Free on Board, at the port of origin), the Spark EUV could qualify for the new category of affordable electrified cars established by a recent Argentine government decree.
Although GM Argentina has not explicitly stated it, the Spark EUV is essentially a rebadged version of the Baojun Yep Plus, an electric SUV available for purchase online via Alibaba for approximately $12,500 in its home market. The original model, already sold in China, measures 3.99 meters in length, has a wheelbase of 2.56 meters, and comes with two battery performance options: a 68-horsepower version with a 300-kilometer range and a 101-horsepower variant offering up to 400 kilometers. Its top speed is limited to 150 km/h.
Inside, the Spark EUV features a large 10.25-inch digital display that serves as both an instrument cluster and a multimedia system. It also includes advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) developed by Chinese tech company DJI, offering automatic parking, lane-keeping assistance, and 360-degree camera views.
This is not the first time GM has used the Spark name in Argentina. Previously, two generations of a city car imported from South Korea were sold under this name between 2008 and 2017.
