Avianca continues to strengthen its connectivity with Argentina. Following previous announcements regarding increased frequencies to Buenos Aires, the airline has now unveiled a new direct route to Argentina. On March 20, Avianca announced the launch of ticket sales for a direct flight connecting Bogotá and Córdoba, set to commence on June 16, 2025.
The airline will operate three weekly flights between El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá and Ingeniero Ambrosio Taravella International Airport in Córdoba. These flights will be carried out using Airbus A320 aircraft, which have a capacity of 180 passengers per flight. This translates to over 1,080 seats per week, further strengthening the connectivity between both cities.
A Strategic Market for Avianca
Argentina remains a key market for Avianca, and the airline is committed to offering enhanced connectivity to Argentine travelers. “Argentina is a crucial market for Avianca, and we are firmly dedicated to providing greater connectivity for Argentinians. In 2024 alone, we transported more than 460,000 passengers to and from Argentina, marking a 20% growth compared to the previous year,” stated Gabriel Oliva, Chief Operating Officer of Avianca and CEO of Avianca Cargo.
According to Oliva, the new route will provide residents of Córdoba with access to more than 80 destinations within Avianca’s network via Bogotá. This addition will be instrumental in boosting travel opportunities for both business and leisure travelers.
Increased Connectivity with Argentina
With the introduction of this new route in June, Avianca will offer over 38 weekly frequencies connecting Argentina. These routes include:
- Bogotá – Aeroparque
- Bogotá – Ezeiza
- Bogotá – Córdoba
- Medellín – Ezeiza
- Quito – Ezeiza
- Guayaquil – Ezeiza
This expansion aligns with Avianca’s mission to provide better travel options and seamless connections between Argentina and other major destinations across the continent.
Expanded Travel Options via Bogotá
Passengers traveling between Argentina and other destinations will now have improved connectivity via Bogotá. Some of the key international routes accessible through Avianca’s hub include:
- North America: Cancún (CUN), Orlando (MCO), Fort Lauderdale (FLL), and New York (JFK)
- Caribbean: Aruba (AUA) and Punta Cana (PUJ)
These connections offer passengers more flexible and convenient travel options, reinforcing Bogotá’s role as a major aviation hub in Latin America.
Additional Flight Frequencies to Buenos Aires
Avianca had already announced an increase in flights between El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá and Ministro Pistarini International Airport in Ezeiza, Buenos Aires. Effective April 1, the airline will operate additional flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. These new frequencies will complement the 14 weekly flights Avianca already operates on this route, bringing the total number of weekly flights to 17.
Moreover, Avianca has upgraded its in-flight experience for passengers flying to and from Argentina. Travelers can now enjoy a refreshed Business Class experience, providing greater comfort and premium services.
Avianca’s ongoing expansion in Argentina underscores its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity. The new direct route between Bogotá and Córdoba, alongside increased frequencies to Buenos Aires, will significantly benefit travelers seeking seamless connections between Argentina and other global destinations. As the airline continues to grow, passengers can look forward to more travel options, improved services, and greater accessibility across the region.
